Viewing an Acreage: Take 1

We summoned our helpful real estate agent who sold us our last house and the house before that, and asked him about an acreage near our townity, 280,000. We did tell him we weren't real serious about buying or moving at the moment, owing to Matthew's lack of job. But he was willing to show us the acreage anyway. He said right now the market for acreages is fierce. Maybe everyone else is getting sick of the stupid town policies, too.

Anyhow, we drove for like 20-30 minutes to reach it. It was one of those patchwork ones, basically a farmhouse lot surrounded by fields. It had a bunch of trees on sight, some outbuildings. We wandered around trying not to blow away while waiting for Jared. There was a lot of work to be done, with piles of junk and downed trees. (What is it with farmers and piles of junk? My grandpa has a junk pile behind his shed, too.)

I could imagine my kids playing there, I guess. Just enough trees for an imaginary adventure.

Finally Jared got there, and we went it. It was weird. It was a patchwork of really old and recently updated. The floor was new. The walls were old. Some of that wallpaper was really old. They had a wood stove in the living room, and a hot tub in a small enclosed porch. There was a mysterious door that didn't look like it could open in the back of a closet. The foundation was wood and it looked like there had been water in the basement, as well as never cleaned residue on everything.

Jared walked through with a look of disbelief on his face, finally saying, "Sorry guys, this isn't a very good example of acreages on the market right now." He said he thought it was overpriced by up to 100,000.

So that's fine, I guess. Without a job, and not knowing where we might end up moving, we couldn't buy it anyway.

Why would you want dough that's sour?

Let me preface this with "I Don't Know What Sourdough Is." Something to do with yeast and keeping it around and alive. To wha...
